KSA undertaking $40bn of green building projects

There are up to 300 ongoing green building project construction in Saudi Arabia.

This is according to the Saudi Green Building Forum (SGBF) Secretary who explained that Saudi Arabia is in the process of constructing “green building” projects worth almost $40bn.

Alfadl was speaking at the fifth annual SGBF which discussed the theme of “Principle strategies: A vision for urban development”.

The event was attended by high-ranking Saudi officials as well as local and international experts, according to Arab News.

Addressing the conference, Alfadl said: “Today’s event is designed for consultation and to review previous initiatives and recommendations on aspects of employment and investment in urban development based on the government spending budget this year.”

According to SGBF, Saudi Arabia’s ecological footprint is significant, with five hectares of the country’s energy resources consumed per person – more than double the global average.

The forum suggests that this could be reduced by using alternative and renewable energy and a greater focus on the design and implementation of energy conservation of buildings in line with modern standards of green buildings.
