MENA’ s Digital growth helping it become Global Logistics Hub
Region generated $66 billion in revenues in 2013 and faces tremendous future growth with Digital retail sales to reach $100 billion in 2025.
Al Masah Capital Limited Report on “Transportation & Logistics in MENA” has revealed that the MENA Region is all set to become a global logistics hub in the next few years.
The MENA Region strategically located between the West and the East, will be an ideal transhipment hub for international trade and commerce. It will help as experts predict drive the emergence of the MENA-Asia trade corridor that could redefine global supply chains with notably India and China as top merchandise export and import destinations.

Meanwhile, Beco Capital, a regional venture capital firm specializing in primarily investments in sectors such as business and consumer internet services, mobile services, SaaS, technology infrastructure, and digital media with a focus on United Arab Emirates, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Levant, Egypt, and other GCC countries.
It said last week that large home grown online marketplaces will lead the digital growth in the Arab region, with retail sales alone expected to surge from the current $10 billion to a possible $100 billion in 2025.
Globally, online retail sales represents 5% of all retail sales on average, with the UK and the US leading at 11%.
In the emerging markets this figure ranges between 3 and 5%.
The MENA’s retail sales transacted digitally, are estimated to be approximately 1 to 2% respectively of total retail sales. These are however anticipated by BECO Capital to seriously reach 25% with sales growing from the present $10 billion to approximately $100 billion within the next decade.
